This homeowner had a bold vision: a double-storey rear extension, a single-storey side extension with a vaulted ceiling, and an open-plan layout filled with natural light thanks to bifold doors and a large roof lantern.

It was an exciting design, but one that required more than creativity. With wide structural spans, complex load paths, and an open ceiling line, the build demanded careful planning and specialist input. That's when the builder, Bond Construction and Joinery, brought us on board to provide the structural engineering support needed to make the design safe, practical, and fully compliant.

Our Role: Structural Engineering for Home Renovation

The client already had architectural drawings, but what they needed next was the engineering expertise to make those plans a buildable reality.

We carried out a full structural assessment and provided:

• Calculations and drawings for the steelwork and load-bearing elements, including support for the bifold doors and vaulted ceilings

• Documentation required for Building Regulation approval

While we don't manage or submit Building Regulation applications ourselves, our structural package ensured smooth progress through the process and met all compliance requirements.
